Ok, here is a closer look at a 72 lb Drenalin backed off to 62lb shooting an arrow at 305 fps. This damper has the Aluminum insert as shipped from the factory.

You need the latest version of Flash Player to view this video.

Sweet Video. I was wondering what the difference would be between the aluminum and the old, thick rubbered brass ones.

I was playing with the test risers the other day and dropping them onto carpet. I compared the old dampers with the new thinner ones and older thick brass ones. With the old ones the riser was dead. THe new ones allowed for a good amount of ring, even with the brass.

Anyways, can you still get the old rubber dampers with brass weights?

They require a recent version of flash player on your computer...

I have some of the brass weights. Wolud they increase or decrease movement? Would felt vibration be less?

Heavier damper will absorb more of the KE trasmitted to the riser, so felt vibration would be less.

Currently using the Carbide dampers in my Apex, a bit heavier in the hand but noticibly quieter Peace

The choice of weight that you use determines the response of the damping system.

The lower frequency hand shock vibrations associated with the launch of the arrow tend to be reduced more with the heavier damper weights as it takes more energy to move them and often times the increase in displacement of the elastomer results in more low frequency energy absorption. Depending on the particular set-up these vibrations are generally in the frequency range between 100 and 200 hz and are driven by the set-up and the harness system of the bow.

The higher frequency or ringing vibrations that can be initiated by the shot but may be due to individual components or accessories, tend to be absorbed better by Dampers equipped with the lighter aluminum weights simply because they respond better to and are more efficient at transferring energy at those frequencies.

It is this difference in individuals and their bow set-ups that makes it necessary to offer the different variations in weights and dampers.

Their movement may or may not be slightly different than the aluminum weights but even if the movement is the same, you could be absorbing as much as three times as much energy and I would suspect that most people would feel less vibration.

That is the video I was looking for! The limb did not move at the thimb bolt even with it backed out! Now I just have to convince all my Hoyt shooting buddies to log on and watch it! I am SO tired of hearing how "the laws of physics say the limb woud Have to move with the bolts backed out!"

You probably need an updated version of the Flash player.
