I had another though on your design, if you strengthen the floor and put casters on it, you can roll it around if you are shooting indoors and move it in and our of the way. Of course that won't work in the yard but would do well indoors.
??

actually it could just need bigger casters

x2 I've got to second that motion. I don't need one, or more correctly, I don't have a place for one right now. But I hope to in the future and I'd sure like to be able to follow these plans! Great post!

thanks for all the comments guys. Like I said in the original post I got the idea from a guy over on AT, and it works awesome. To answer the question about whether the plastic netting will hurt a arrow??? I don't see how it could. Alright somebody...build one.

Nah you do nail it all down. I said in the instructions to cut a hole in the top so you can stuff it.

You also can talke
2 2x12's pieces of wood
2 long lag bolts
Run the lag bolts thrut he bottom of the wood on the side then go to the local supermarket and have them save cardboard. Cut the cardboard down flat and then compress it between the 2 pieces of wood like a block target. best thing is you can make it as big as you want and once the cardboard loosens up turn the bolts down and compress it to tighten it up.

Actually.......not really. The point of the field point just pushes the wire to one side and the arrow slides right past it. I've shot one made with the chicken wire for 2 years now and never had any sort of problems.

we've had this same concept with our indoor targets with the clothes for about 10 years and just takes a little maintenance before each season to replace shoot out inner carpet and replace the burlap covering and they hold up great. just have to add some more clothes every year do to pulverizing

Hey great plan. I plan on building onee and also putting it in a shooting shed.
I have several questions:
1) how big of a hole do you leave in for the stuffing process?
2) how packed do you need to make it? do you just pack it with a stick to push it down?
Thanks for the post. -Rick

Has anyone tried this as a broadhead target? I'm sure the blades would cut the plastic fencing (so you' have to move the spots around or use canvas or burlap) but would the target hold an arrow with a broadhead?

Made the hole just about a 8 by 8 hole if that big. It needs to be packed really good. i took a broom stick and would pack it down as I went.

Can it handle broadheads? Probably not, but I figured I would ask

Here's mine. I used old clothes, carpet and a couple old comforters (bottom, middle and top layers). All 3 stop arrows great. The ones with the green vanes are from a 28.5/70 Reezen at 10 yards. Only problem is they will go in farther between the layers, so I think I am going to re-stuff the whole thing with old clothes, they seem to work best. I used some sunscreen room material from Lowe's for the face and it works really well. Great target though!

I like the design but wonder about some of the mentioned filling material....Plastic works great, yes...but I think clothing and rags would clog the arrow in pulling it out. Maybe not...but I would go for a plastic filled target rather than anthing with cloth.....MO.
