Hey all just checking in. I am getting ready to head to work and pull a night shift so I can make the trip to my grandpas farm and start my 5-day trip. I'll get 1 extra evening hunt in by going to work tonight and leaving straight from work to make the 3 hour drive. I will get there first thing and visit a little and then head out with the summit to try and put some more points on the board for the team.

The bucks are cruising! Saw one wide 8, a basket racked 6, and a nice 8 dogging a doe. Heard him lip curling and chased her off the ridge. will post an update every night that I hunt for the next week and 1/2.

I got out a little later than I wanted to last night and got the climber hung in the stand but never did see anything. Went back in there this morning and again saw nothing. I decided to get down and move my climber and I found a scrape on the edge of a soybean field. I got everything hung up in the tree and I'm going to go back out this evening. I will most likely hunt this area for the rest of my time here because there was sign everywhere in that field.

Long day today fellas. did an all dayer saw 6 deer. the highlight was listening to a buck making a couple of scrapes in the pre-dawn hours. could barely make him out in the full moon. Never did get a good look at the antlers. winds picked up to 25 mph this afternoon making movement suck. Driving home tonight deer crossing the road all the way' it's a 5 mile drive. Friend called, he's on a monster. This guy does not shoot small deer, and to hear the excitement in his voice, well...... wish you all were here. i'll be back tomorrow night

I had a great time in the woods this morning.

Two little bucks hung out for about 40 minutes. They knew something wasn't right, but couldn't quiet figure it out.

I would have busted either (i could use the meat), but they just didn't cooperate fully.

Tomorrow, Browtines and I leave for Ohio. Two days of rut hunting! I hope to put the THWACK on a monster and then give Browtines the honor of dragging it out for me.

No problem "friend" but i have to load mine first....I think i may change vehicle plans.... not shure yet but may take black dodge instead of escalade....

Ok, after much reflection, here's the story. I was called out of the woods for a conference call that required my attention. This was a killer as movement yesterday was awesome. Well the call was at 1:00 pm 2 hours later at 3:00 pm I was finally done! I drove home, changed clothes, and off to the woods. Knowing it was getting late I went to my closest stand, off an alfalfa field I pushed two big bucks a 10 and an 8 out of the field. RATS!! Getting to my stand I set my doe decoy out 20 yards from the edge of the timber out in the field. It is now 3:50. 10 minutes into the sit, 4 does move towards the decoy from the north. Usually, this is disaster as the does normally raise a fuss and blow out of the field. For some reason, they just kept moving closer. Hearing a noise to my left, I looked down and saw the buck sneaking in to the decoy. waiting for him to clear some cover limbs I took the shot at 12 yards. He ran 30 yards out into the alfalfa field and tipped over. The time now is 4:10!!! I am looking around for the TV cameras as this stuff ONLY happens on the Outdoor channel!! Waiting 15 minutes I climbed from the stand and claimed one of the best gifts bowhunting has to offer.

My best friend (73 yrs old) ended up in the hospital last Saturday. They think it's Kidney Stones . I worry because he's had heart problems and is on a pace maker. I made it a priority to get his harvesting done for him. I started Wednesday, with a little luck and no breakdowns, most of it will be done by Monday. That is, if I work all day Saturday and Sunday. So won't be able to do much hunting this week. Still seeing alot of deer, just not the right one. Not to worry, I'll put up a score.
